IBS Center for NanoMedicine

Greeting

원장 이미지

The goal of the Center for Nanomedicine is to establish a foundation for future-oriented convergence science and to create new breakthroughs at the nexus of nanomaterials and biological systems.

Nanoscience provides useful concepts that allow for a deeper understanding of biological systems such as cellular mechanics, neuronal networks, and signaling pathways. Our center aims to introduce new possibilities to the scientific community by developing nanomaterials capable of monitoring and understanding biological phenomena with maximum precision and accuracy.

To this end, our center comprises three research groups specialized in nanomaterials design, nano-bio interfacing, and molecular-level bioimaging and cell regulation. The three teams’ close cooperation is expected to lead to innovative, high-performance nanomaterials and nanosystems that can help identify the basic principles behind biological phenomena at the single cell level. Long term, we expect to create innovative concepts and tools for ultra-sensitive, high-accuracy, and high-efficiency diagnosis and treatment of diseases. The Center for Nanomedicine aims to create new scientific fields with an interdisciplinary approach to chemistry, physics, bioengineering, and medicine.
